May 9, 2021
The second Sunday of May is upon us again and that can only mean one thing – yes, its Mother’s Day 2021! And a happy holiday to all of you mother’s and grandmother’s as well.
This celebration or commercial event, whichever way you look at it is a celebration that honors the mother of the family, the maternal bonds the family holds strong and the influence of mothers in our modern way of life. And why shouldn’t we celebrate these amazing women in our life?
Mother’s Day in the US
How did this modern holiday start in the US? Well back in the early 20th century three women were considered to be the influencers of this 20th century tradition. Ann Reeves Jarvis, Julia Ward Howe and Ann’s daughter, Anna M. Jarvis. It is recorded that Ann Jarvis, held a small memorial service for her own mother on the 12th of May 1907 at Andrews Methodist Episcopal Church in Grafton, which to this day still serves as the International Mother’s Day shrine.
Of course, this holiday is not directly related to many traditional and ancient celebrations across the world for mothers and motherhood but was such an important holiday for us that the President of the United States in 1914 made it the national holiday we know so well today. It may also be useful to know that using the words “ancient” and “mother” in the same line is never a good idea – sorry mom!
How Do We Celebrate Mother’s Day Differently?
Most mom these days simply want to connect with their children and spend as much time with the family as possible. The last year has been very trying for lots of families what with lockdown and separation so picking up the phone or even a zoom call is special.
Its also a time for treating your parent with a gift or maybe treating her to a meal. So, let us have a look at some ideas. What about the perfect mother’s day jewelry? A piece of Gabriel & Co Jewelry with both your names engraved on to it or some beautiful Swarovski Crystal! Why not get creative?

Record a video from all the children, they can all get together and say, “Happy Mother’s Day” and even why they really appreciate her. A bit more old school as the perfect personalized gift would be to record a personal music playlist of her favorite tunes or some nostalgic tracks that mean a lot to all the family.
Mother’s Day Gifts For Grandma
And finally let us not forget the grandmothers’ for without them there would simple be no mothers! The one strong memory I have of my mother is the wonderful perfumes and aromas she had on her dressing table! They look after there skin to keep young for us with all those skincare and beauty products so why not treat your mother or grandmother to the perfect gift.
Happy Mother's Day!
